Senior Partner Kent D. McPhail graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1988. After graduating, he became in-house counsel for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. After a two-year stint with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, he practiced with a private creditor law firm for three years. In 1994, Kent became one of the founding partners of the law firm of Dumas & McPhail, which is now McPhail Sanchez, LLC.
Kent is licensed under the Mississippi Bar (1988), the Florida Bar (1990), the Alabama Bar (1991), and the Tennessee Bar (2015). He is admitted to practice in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the US District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, the US District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama, the US District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, and the US District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Tennessee. His practice is limited to the representation of creditors.
Kent is passionate about his wife and three children, as well as completing annual construction projects in Mayan villages in the Yucatan, a mission in which he has taken a leadership role for the past 15 years. Whenever possible, he sneaks off to fish in the Coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
